AfriVision Circularity Labs
Education-Driven Plastic Circularity for African Cities
What is AfriVision Circularity Labs?
AfriVision Circularity Labs is an AfriVision Edutech initiative that transforms schools and youth hubs into engines of plastic circularity through education, community action, and data-driven systems. The program equips students and young people with practical knowledge, skills, and tools to understand plastic waste, participate in circular solutions, and become active contributors to cleaner, more sustainable cities. Rather than treating plastic pollution as only an environmental problem, AfriVision Circularity Labs approaches it as an education, innovation, and systems challenge—solved through learning, participation, and collaboration. The Plastic Problem We’re Addressing across African cities, plastic waste poses a growing threat to:
- Public health
- Urban infrastructure
- Drainage systems
- Marine and land ecosystems
While collection systems exist in some areas, a major gap remains: limited education, awareness, and youth participation in circular solutions. Many young people:
- Lack practical knowledge of plastic lifecycle and circularity
- Are excluded from innovation and data-driven waste systems.
- Do not see sustainability as a pathway to skills or careers
AfriVision Circularity Labs addresses this gap by embedding plastic literacy, systems thinking, and real-world action directly into learning environments.
AfriVision Circularity Labs operates as a learning-to-action system:
Impact is measured not only in waste reduced, but in knowledge gained, behavior changed, and systems strengthened.
